MO'S HOT DROPS
You know why I love this 'rock, paper, scissors' wine from the 3 Speck brothers of Henry of Pelham - three brothers working wine together yeah !
SPRING, 2010
FLAVOUR MAGAZINE
"Three brothers, three grape varieties and one cool new wine concept. Sibling Rivalry White is a blend of Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer from the Speck family's Henry of Pelham Estate Vineyards in Niagara. The result is fresh tasting wine with citrus, apple and lychee flavours. A treat on its own or try it with a fruit and cheese plate."

Appellation
Sibling Rivalry represents as much our personality as the character of the land where we grow our grapes. Our family estate vineyards are located in the VQA Appellation of the Short Hills Bench. This wine grape growing region is well known for producing wines of intense flavours that result from complex soils.
tasting notes
Blending wine is like mixing colours or preparing a nice meal. Each grape variety of wine has its very own character - and when combined with the other grape varieties within the blend, results in a layer cake
of complex and tonguetastic
ecstasy in the glass.

sibling rivalry PINK
The missing link between Red and White or night and day, how could Sibling be without Pink! This final addition to the triumvirate brings Cabernet, Syrah and Gamay to the table in a hardy pink blend around which both men and women can finally unite. Behind its handsome bad boy demeanour is a blend that offers tastes of summer cool and winter heat. Is it a red that drinks like a white, a white that drinks like a red, or just a manly pink wine?
2008
sibling rivalry
red
Like three good friends out on the town this wine is Merlot + Cab. Franc + Cab. Sauvignon: dark, juicy and delicious. Lots of lush berry flavours. The savoury flavours from oak aging add ambiance, like dinner by the fire in the den or the backyard.

sibling rivalRy
white
Bright, white and out of sight; the triumvirate of Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. Long names and hard to pronounce, so we call this wine 'White'. Not just another single varietal wine -- why choose one grape when you can have three? Think lime citrus and apple freshness with a dash of lychee fruit, in that order. As someone said at a recent event, “tastes like a sun-vacation”.

solving the
ultimate
rivalry:
quality
vs.
price
The idea that quality is connected to price - or that the lower the price the lower the quality - is an out dated paradigm for Sibling Rivalry. Blending wine from our estate vineyards within our exceptional appellation is the answer. Carefully selecting barrel wines of various volumes from different locations within the estate allows us to hand manage and offer slightly higher volumes at a lower than typical price for this calibre of wine - offering a great quality at a great price.
$13.95 / bottle is amazing.

"The Speck brothers, who run the family's Henrey of Pelham winery, created this blend of 3 white varieties to be serious wine that is seriously fun. And it is. Rosewater and lychee notes come through from the Gewürztraminer, fruit from the Riesling and a rounded body from the Chardonnay.”
