FLAVOUR MAGAZINE
"Three brothers, three grape varieties and one cool new wine concept. Sibling Rivalry White is a blend of Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer from the Speck family's Henry of Pelham Estate Vineyards in Niagara. The result is fresh tasting wine with citrus, apple and lychee flavours. A treat on its own or try it with a fruit and cheese plate." |

Hello Paul,Daniel ans Matt !!
I would like you to read my story how Sibling Rivalry brought our family back together.
Last month I had to go to my parents 70 birthday party in Germany and was very nervous to face my Brother and Sister who did not speak to me for a very long time. I found an ad for your 2 wines in the Food and Drink magazine and had to laugh because my sisters last name is Speck. So I decided to take a bottle each with me.
The party was very awkward at first because we did still not talk to each other and my parents wanted nothing more than that. So I took the 2 bottles out and told the story about the 3 brothers in Canada who came up with this wine and that it is just all Sibling Rivalry what has caused the fights between brothers and sisters. The story would be to long to be told in full but at the end my sister apologized to me, my brother told me that he missed me and we all hugged and opened the first bottle. All problems are solved because the wine broke the ice and got us talking again and my parents are very happy. I just wanted to thank you for helping us out this way and now they want to know if there is a way to ship the wine to Germany !!! They liked it a lot.
I hope the 3 of you continue to be good siblings with each other and I will visit you winery next year, hopefully when my brother is visiting our beautiful country for the first time. All the best to you

Dear Speck Brothers,
Recently, a group of Canada’s most precious iconic figures from Cape Dorset were coming to Toronto to celebrate the 50th year of their artist coop. Some of the founding artists and managers of the West Baffin Eskimo Co-op were being honoured for their contribution to Canadian print making and to the art of the Inuit print at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
Being a fanatical supporter of Inuit art, I have been struck by the Studio's embrace of the huge stylistic differences of its more recent artists who are opening up the Studio’s appeal to a whole new group of contemporary art collectors. The studio manager, Jimmy, whose remarkable vision overcame older limitations makes him one of the unsung heroes of the studios longevity, success and subsequent recent shift.
I wanted to express my appreciation of this revolution with a gift of innovative Canadiana and the Sibling Rivalry label screamed out as such on the crowded and conventional shelves at the LCBO. I contacted the artists that created the label and asked them to sign the bottle.
When I visited and told them about Jimmy, they saw the Sibling Rivalry label's visibly apparent connection to art and print making, and offered to contribute a poster they had just produced of Sibling Rivalry to present to the Dorset artists as well.
I gave the wine and poster to Jimmy; he was thrilled and proud that Canada is producing such fine art in the form of wine. Imagine!
So I toast you three for your challenge of convention and preconception in Canadian art - both in the visual and wine world.

Hi Paul,
...we had your Sibling Rivalry driven out to Manitoba for our wedding. As promised I've attached a photo, I thought I had more but turns out this is the best of them.
Also, as I mentioned the Manitoba folk loved the wine and would surely carry it at the small local liquor mart if your sales rep wants to make the trip to Souris Manitoba...
All the Best,
Christine |
